Bet you thought this would be a post about the election but this space is a politics-free zone so there won’t be any of those shenanigans around these parts. There is only one kind of insanity that fits perfectly with photography and that’s music. The symbiosis that exists between audio and visual reaches into us with such primal imperative that trying to imagine one without the other is like thinking of the day without the night.
For me, music is as necessary for shooting as the camera is. Events like concerts, wedding receptions or even outdoor creatives alter perception when there is a right banger playing. I’ve been fortunate to shoot a number of concerts and even if you can get out to a friend’s gig or a community show, it is absolutely worth the experience and will make you a better photography. Best of all, you might even find yourself exposed to a different genre you didn’t even know you like!
Finally, because I’m a shameless promoter for all things music (not to mention my friends), the above photo is from a Cรndu1t show at Toronto’s Mod Club. You can check out their work here: https://c0ndu1t.bandcamp.com
Stay human, everyone.
