So here we are again at that point in the year. The time where my posts get shorter than the days. Joking. Sort of. But, you know, the part where you think, “what do you mean Thanksgiving is only two weeks away?!”. For a photographer, it’s “man, I gotta get out there and shoot before those leaves need to be cleaned up”. This is one of the few times we photos have to get out and shoot for the purely creative experience. This is the season between weddings, family summer shoots and all the end-of-year events. Don’t think for a second it has anything to do with it being naturally spectacular. It has everything to do with the (maybe) ten days we have free.
Yes, the colours and leaves and great but as we are “painters of light”, the softer sunlight and longer shadows are what makes autumn shooting that much more exciting. Over the year, every other shoot we have done has brought us to places we’ve thought will look great in the fall. So like the obsessive lunatics we are, we opened Maps and dropped a pin for future use and the future… is… now.
Now, shooting is exciting when it’s a new place you know you’re going to get gold. It’s even more exciting when you realize everyone else is busy with a trip to the farm for apple picking, so, skip the hayride and grab your gear. Don’t worry, the only thing you’ll be missing out on are photos of pumpkin spice lattes.

Both photos taken at Wilmot Creek in Oakville, Ontario.
