Sometimes the topic for the week is obvious but, as a guy, I am usually completely oblivious to something short of a fast moving hammer flying at my face. And even then it’s not a guarantee I’ll notice. I did realize this morning, however, that everyone’s favourite sexy occupation day (better known as Halloween) is around the corner. Not to date myself but I recall when your choice of costume was either a witch, a vampire or ghost. You could also be a pumpkin smasher but that was a different kind of trick or treating.
The great thing about Halloween is that it’s actually quite inspiring for creative photography. Also, you can get as dark and demented as you want and no one will wonder about your mental state. You can just say you were trying to be festive. That’s my usual go to and it works. I say that now, but let’s see how badly the photo I used today violates every social media platform’s community standards.
Side note: in case you’re wondering where the inspiration for that image came from, I should probably thank the fine lads of Metallica and the excellent album “Kill ‘Em All” for the inspiration. Hopefully, they don’t think it infringes on their design and take me to The People’s Court.
Speaking of music, and to quote the philosophical Al Jourgenson, everyday is Halloween so you don’t have to wait for All Hallow’s Eve to concoct some macabre potion of a photo. Go watch some terrifyingly creepy films, read some Edgar Allen Poe and embrace your inner Addams Family member. You are welcome to post links to your photos below and remember to keep it weird.
